09 Nov Transform Your Well-Being: Chris Jones’ Journey from Veteran to Float Spa Owner
Chris Jones, a University of Central Florida (UCF) graduate, is the owner of Synergy Float Spa, in Merritt Island, Florida, a first-of-its-kind facility dedicated to making its clients the best human beings they can be through holistic wellness modalities Chris is a disabled veteran who served as an officer for over 24 years in the Army, Air Force, and Navy. At some point in his military career, his fight or flight nervous system response stopped turning on and off and was continually stuck in the “on” position. After Chris retired, the VA recommended traditional talk therapy and some hardcore pharmaceuticals to help turn it off.
Those solutions did not resonate with him, and he began to look for alternative solutions. His journey took him to Peru, where, on an extended visit in 2016, floatation therapy was revealed to him. Shortly after his return home to Virginia, he bought a Zen float tent (now out of business) and set it up in his home. After some amazing results, and with no business expertise, Chris quit his job and opened his first Synergy Float Center in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, and started his quest to make everyone a better human being one float at a time.
Returning to Florida in early 2023, Chris purchased an historic 1926 building in the Old Park Place area of Merritt Island with the goal of offering Florida’s Space Coast residents the opportunity to make themselves the best they can be–mentally, physically, and spiritually through floating. And in pursuit of that goal, he has spent nearly two years renovating his Merritt Island purchase, transforming it into his second Synergy Float Spa.
Chris has found that floating helps reduce stress, anxiety, aches and pains, depression, and provides an overall sense of well-being and connectedness to our Universe. Many professional athletes, like Tom Brady, and Steph Curry, use floating to enhance their performance and their recovery after their sporting events. Chris, a self-described terrible golfer, routinely takes about 10 strokes off his score if he floats before he tees off! Chris encourages everyone, whether Merritt Islanders or not, to visit his new float spa at 264 North Grove St, Merritt Island, Florida 32953 and try floating today.
